Dear H-SHEAR friends, As a reminder, our forum on Daniel Walker Howe's _What Hath God Wrought_ will conclude next Monday with Bertram Wyatt-Brown's contribution. The following week I will post a reply to all of the reviews by Professor Howe. This Thursday, as an added bonus, I am pleased to announce that H- SHEAR will publish another of our regular interactive review sessions. The book under review is Andrew M. Schocket's _Founding Corporate Power in Early National Philadelphia_ (Northern Illinois University Press, 2007). Our reviewer is Tamara Plakins Thornton, professor of history at SUNY- Buffalo. She is the author, most recently, of "'A Great Machine' or a 'Beast of Prey': A Boston Corporation and its Rural Debtors in an Age of Capitalist Transformation" in the Winter 2007 issue of the _Journal of the Early Republic_, which won the 2008 Ralph D. Gray Article Prize from SHEAR. She is currently working on a biography of Nathaniel Bowditch (1773-1838). On Thursday, I will post Professor Thornton's review and Professor Schocket's reply, at which point the list will be open for your questions and comments. Sincerely, Caleb McDaniel Co-Book Review Editor, H-SHEAR W. Caleb McDaniel Assistant Professor of History Rice University http://www.owlnet.rice.edu/~wcm1
