Subj: RE: QUERY: Who represents military women Date: 96-06-05 13:20:02 EDT From: BroweJM@hqda.army.mil (BroweJM) To: MINERVACEN@AOL.COM I'm not responding to anyone in particular, perhaps I'm only telling Linda: I have a small article coming out this Friday I hope in which I casually mention the DACOWITS use to be a tool of the Republicans and filled with the most conservative of conservative. I was told that has changed. Personally I think that is hogwash. From my limited experience with these folks the only thing they're good for is to give my news clippings that I miss myself. They are exactly 35 feet from my door at the Pentagon. I don't even think they have a newsletter or newspaper or anything though the people I met, to include a Captain Cory Whitehead were very nice. I guess I'd characterize them as "incrementalists." Perhaps they know more about tact and diplomacy than me and in that way advance the cause of the female at arms. I've seen no evidence of this, though, other than a bland proclamation or manifesto or two. I offered to do them a newsletter because they only sponsor some quarterly thing or other and that's it. Until someone can point me to their great contributions, I'll have to consider thinking of them as the leading mediocrity in the OSD FMP secretariat (though they just renovated their office, which is more than I can say for me down the hall ;-).
