Please reply to: Jakob Skovgaard-Petersen <firstname.lastname@example.org> Does any one on the list have information about the (apparently Iranian) production and the public reception of "Maryam al-Muqaddisa", a TV series on the story of Virgin Mary based on Koranic and Islamic prophetic material, screened by Hizbollah's al-Manar channel last Christmas? I bought a copy in Beirut and have been trying to look into the source material of the story. For instance, the role of Herodotus. How well known is he and his wife and sister in the Islamic historical tradition? And do the producers have their information about the Jewish temple from classical Islamic sources, or did they consult Western scholarship? Jakob Skovgaard-Petersen The University of Copenhagen
