A new booklet, "For Many, World War II Isn't Over" is available from the American Red Cross. It describes the Red Cross program to trace "and, if possible reunite family members...." The booklet notes that "With access to newly acquired World War II records, it is now possible to determine the fate of many more victims of Nazi persecution." [This booklet replaces one which was issued a few years ago.] I have obtained copies of this booklet for distribution at the various Holocaust education programs and conferences our Center will hold this year. We have met survivors who have come to our programs who have no contact with other survivors or survo survivor groups. While the tracing service does not always result in obtaining the information requested, it has bv been successful in some cases. My local Red Cross chapter obtained the booklets for me. I have also asked them to locate a videotape the Red Cross office (in Baltimore) made which describes the tracing service. [It is a sensitive depiction of the anguish which survivors face(d) in not knowing the fate of loved ones.] If anyone on the holocaus list knows how I might get this film (I saw it in Florida), please let me know.
