Regarding Hari Kumar's query: << Re: <"(Incidentally, In the immediate post- war period Stalin is known to have had a portrait of Peter in his office, along with those of Suvarov, Marx, and two of Lenin. That's pretty indicative of his mentality, methinks, all questions of the human cost of high policy aside.)"> QUESTION: Is that referenced anywhere please? >> This was noted in a Look Magazine interview with Stalin conducted by Elliott Roosevelt and attended by his wife, Faye Emmerson Roosevelt, who diagrammed the office for publication. In reviewing the material to answer this question, I note there was also a portrait of Engels on the wall. The interview was conducted Dec. 21, 1946, and published in Look early in 1947. I've got the material laid out for future publication as a pamphlet and could be happy to email a pdf of Mrs. Roosevelt's sketch to anyone who queries me off-list: MutantPop@aol.com I've got a copy of the original issue of Look buried somewhere in my rubble, if anyone needs to know the exact date of publication I can dig it out...
