There seem to be several such books circulating. Several years ago I was
shown one authored by a young woman who "interviewed" German women who told
similar stories. There were no "facts" -- no documentation whatsoever.
Problem is that a little curiosity always remains and there is never enough
time to read everything to satisfy one's curiosity. The Lebensborn
discussion has been good.
This brings me to my promise to look up some microfilmed material of the BDC
Library at the National Archives. The "Beitragstabelle zum Verein
Lebensborn" is just that, a table of financial contributions assessed
according to SS rank, marital status and number of children in the family.
In the training material for young SS is a page describing "Lebensborn" and
its goals as pointed out by the experts on the subject of the H-German list.
You are right. Unless we see some documentation of encouragement to create
pregnancies among unmarried girls, we can only assume that, at least, the
"racially pure" girls were luckier than most young females finding themselves
in that "predicament" during those times.
