Yesterday I returned from a research and lecture trip to Germany. What I
picked up is that some kind of MPG decision has already been made to keep
the Goettingen Institute open after some restructuring. I believe only
Seefelden will be closed for good (of the four originally slated for
oblivion). According to what I heard, that MPG decision will be voted on
and made official at the forthcoming MPG March meeting.
Let's hope it's true; in that case all our efforts will not have been
in vain, and it will be a great moral victory for our own Hartmut Lehmann.
