I was wondering if films about exile and immigration was to be confined to the American experience. Thankfully not! However, I we thinking only about feature films? Australia: there's a feature called Silver Town; about the migrant experience in Australia in the 1950s. There are also a fair number of government documentaries around immigrant issues. India: I can't itemise the films here but there are lots of masala films that explore (peripherally) the movement of people from the country to the city. Try Salaam Bombay. Brian Shoesmith
