To Tony Kaes with respect to his inquiry on immigrant films. My book, HISPANIC S AND UNITED STATES FILM has a lot of pages dedicated to this from the earliest silents to nowadays. But here's a few such films from the 30s-50s: On The Bo rder (1930), I Cover the Waterfront (1932, undocumented Chinese smuggled from M exico), Hold Back the Dawn (1941), Border Incident (1949), Borderline (1950), T he Lawless (1950), and Wetbacks (1956). And there are dozens more. Gary D.
