I am looking for films that thematize the experience of exile and
immigration in the United States.

One of my favorites is "The Godfather, part II" - the sequence in which the
young Vito Corleone arrives at Ellis Island.

There is a wonderful silent film called "The Italian" produced by Thomas Ince
in 1915 that is very valuable in this regard too.
