"Juxta" by Hiroko Yamazaki (29 min) (US) presents views of immigration for Japanese women married to U.S. servicemen, through two children, one whose father is white, the other whose father is black. "Be Good My Children" by Christine Chang (47 min) (US) a smart comedy about one Korean immigrant family. Both of these independent films are available from Women Make Movies. "To Liv(e)" by Evans Chan (feature length in English with some Cantonese subtitled) (HK) (1990). A film which questions the emigration of people from Hong Kong, the role of the British government regarding the 1997 transfer "back" to China, and the responsibilities Hong Kong has for the refugees from Vietnam in refugee camps. "The Wedding Banquet" by Ang Lee (Taiwan/US). Brings together issues of legal and illegal immigration from the "two Chinas"- PRC and ROC- to NYC, and combines it humorously with familiar and cultural conflicts about homosexuality and inter-cultural relationships.
