The Nye committee reflected a far-left viewpoint. Nye himself was a follower of LaFollette and entered office through the far-left "Non Partisan League" in North Dakota. The committee's chief staffer was Alger Hiss (who was using his inside connections to get documents for the USSR, said his courier, Whitaker Chambers.) John T. Flynn, a leftist writer wrote most of the committee reports. The rhetoric was straight anti-corporation Marxism, and the report was heavily supported by the usual leftwing types, as represented in _The Nation_. To see what I mean, look at the report itself at: http://www.mtholyoke.edu/acad/intrel/nye.htm The nearest analog today might be the Greens and anti-WTO types, who reflect the same leftwing assumption that American capitalism is both inherently evil and always bad for the rest of the world.
