dear listmembers, i sent the following email post to Gloria Anderson, executive editor of the NY Times. I hope that many of my fellow listmembers will help to bombard her with their opinion on this matter. her address is: Gloria B. Anderson Executive Editor firstname.lastname@example.org My post read: Dear Gloria Anderson, We are concerned that the NY TIMES misuses the term anti-semitism. ANTI-SEMITISM spelled with a hyphen implies the validity of the category Semite. We urge you, i.e., THE NEW YORK TIMES, to change its policy and spell antisemitism consistently without the hyphen. This would make your newspaper conform to scholarly usage and end this implication that the NY TIMES agrees that Semite is a valid category for anything but language family. Cheers, bob michael Robert Michael Prof. European History UMASS Dartmouth email@example.com co-editor h-antis
