Further to the posting on the Niger Delta, you may be interested to know
that, in February 1999, Human Rights Watch published a 200 page report on
the situation in the Niger Delta (of which I am the author; I also
testified for HRW at the Africa subcommittee hearings on August 3), titled
*The Price of Oil: Corporate Responsibility and Human Rights Violations in
Nigeria's Oil Producing Communities*. A short follow-up report, *Crackdown
in the Niger Delta*, was published in May 1999. The full texts of both
reports (and of the testimony) are available on the Human Rights Watch
website <www.hrw.org>.
