I am sorry to have to inform you that Carol Eastman passed away
at about 1:00 pm on October 15, 1997. Prof. Eastman was the
Executive Vice President of the University of Hawaii, past
member of the Board of Directors and the Treasurer of the
African Studies Association (US).

Condolences may be sent to her husband John.

It was her wish that donations be made to Iolani School, in
remembrance of her. She was a member of their Board of
Governors.  Her remembrance will be held on October 26 at
Iolani School's chapel, 563 Kamoku Street, Honolulu, HI, 96826.
