I support Jon Abbinck's point about orature. We still
tend to assume that African literature = literature in
colonial languages, and if this is what's meant, it
should be spelled out in the heading of the contest. I
suspect that something proposed in an off the cuff
moment has now assumed magisterial proportions without
really being representative.
