I'll be out of town (and off the net) from December 20 through January 5. Mary Garrett offered to moderate from December 24 through January 5, but she left town before we had actually confirmed it all. And I don't know how to reach her. I had someone else lined up for December 20 through December 24. But EDTECH runs on an IBM which (as IBM's do) requires a TN3270 emmulation to work. The person I found uses a NeXt without apparently such an emmulation, and hasn't moderated before, and isn't used to RiceMail or an IBM. So as of this evening, we have finally given up on that idea. So far everyone else here, that knows how, doesn't want to or isn't available, and training someone from scratch takes time, which is growing short. Someone with an appropriate system could Telnet to the moderator's account here, or we could switch the moderator mail to another account number temporarily. So I think it could be done from any location. As things have developed, I now need someone (who preferably) has moderated a list before, is familiar with IBM mainframes, and who I know from the list well enough to feel comfortable putting in charge of the list. You would be in charge of moderating at minimum from December 20 through 24, and perhaps longer if available. Being in charge means forwarding appropriate mail, returning inappropriate mail, and attempting to handle bounced mail (from bad addresses). It takes me about 30 minutes to an hour a day, though there are ways of doing it faster and ways of taking more time. During the end of year holidays, there are often low traffic days that require little effort. I'm inclined to simply shut the list down for 2 1/2 weeks at this point (and will as of tomorrow afternoon if I don't find someone). This is of course the disadvantage of having only one tired moderator. But if someone qualified is willing to take it on, please do send me an email (include your telephone number), and I'll see if we can work it out tomorrow. I'll let you all know what's happening. Thanks for your help. Vickie Banks EDTECH Moderator 21765EDT@MSU.EDU
