Richard, I am myself opposed to government intervention in general, but I am dealing with the reality that this society has decided that government intervention in almost every aspect of life. While the attempt of California voters to control government spending is admirable (I wish they would find something other than education to cut), it is not the norm. Education seems to be coming under particular pressure, possibly because the population is aging and has other concerns, such as medical care. This is an interesting point you bring up, but I'm not sure how it related to the main thrust of my message. Maybe I need to be more clear; sorry if I was not. Lee Mohon. lam4@Ra.MsState.Edu
