Bob, I was thinking about the difference between individual and group IQ scores and thought also about the cultural component of group IQ. Getting back to the Japanese. Assuming that IQ measures something that is valued in modern society, and assuming the Japanese group IQ really rose (something I am not entirely persuaded of after teaching in Japan for 10 years), could it be that the Japanese succeeded in altering their culture (through their ed system, perhaps), such that they were better adapted to the demands of the modern world (as measuerd by IQ tests)? If so, interesting... If not why not. Discuss. Steve Tripp email@example.com p.s. Bob, I'm not going to AECT. Damn thing coincides with first week of schoo l.
