Regarding computers, I did suggest a checklist of activities in the December, 1983, Educational Technology, pp. 16-22. The title of the article was Microcomputer Learning Stations and Student Health and Safety: Planning, Evaluation, and Revision of Physical Arrangements. Most of that article converges with what became the ANSI standard. You can find more recent articles of mine on more specific aspects by looking in ERIC. By the way, I am currently appointed to the ANSI committee overseeing the maintenance and development of standards for learning environments. I am an Adjunct Professor at the Metropolitan State College of Denver but spend most of my time in my own business of consulting and writing.
