---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: <adams@missouri.edu> Date: Tue, Nov 3, 2009 at 9:50 PM Subject: Book Review Editor Search- The American Review of Public Administration 03-Nov-2009 To Friends of the American Review of Public Administration: The editors of the American Review of Public Administration are searching for a new book review editor. As one of only twenty eight public policy and administration journals worldwide included in the Thomson Reuters Social Science Journal Citation Index, ARPA is among the premier academic journals in the field of public affairs and public administration. As an assiduously peer-reviewed journal with the combined goals of advancing the knowledge of public administration and improving its practice, ARPA features articles that address rapidly emerging issues in public administration and public affairs, and is open to both traditional and non-traditional approaches. ARPA has no methodological bias other than a preference for an analytical approach to whatever issue is being addressed. The book review section has grown into one of the journal’s strengths under the leadership of the outgoing book review editor, Professor Laura A. Reese of Michigan State University (who leaves to join the new editorial team at the Journal of Urban Affairs) and her predecessors. The book review section currently emphasizes book review essays that promote critical dialogue among scholars in the field on theoretical, ethical, political, administrative, professional and methodological issues and topics in the field. We are looking for a book review editor who can build on this strength, and are open to innovative formats and content in this section of the journal. The book review editor will be responsible for obtaining books for review, soliciting reviews and reviewers, and managing the process of moving book review essays into publication. The position of book review editor is a three year renewable term, beginning July 2010. In a letter of interest with accompanying vita, candidates for ARPA book review editor should indicate the level of institutional support they can obtain, such as: graduate student or clerical assistance, course-load reduction, and/or office space and computer support. Where appropriate, a letter from the candidate’s unit head may be included. The editors would also like to receive a brief “statement of vision” (which can be incorporated into the letter of interest), which indicates where the candidate hopes to lead this key section of the journal. Please send the application materials detailed above to: Dr. Guy B. Adams, Co-editor, American Review of Public Administration, 121 Middlebush Hall, Harry S Truman School of Public Affairs, University of Missouri-Columbia, Columbia, MO 65211. E-mail submissions are welcome: adams@missouri.edu. Screening of applications will begin on February 1, 2010, with a decision by March 1, 2010
