Ladies and Gentlemen, Today's issue of The Daily Telegraph (London), 23 FEB10, has a obituary of a chap which gives a description of a "Spitfire" facial injury. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/military-obituaries/air-force-obituaries/7294353/Wing-Commander-Bob-Doe.html Unfortunately the OBIT does not give a before and after photo, just the young man. The man was in a programme some years that was a TV documentary of the Hawker Hurricane fighter, he describing its fighter bomber use in Burma in WWII, his face was extremely battered and angular, the authoritive historical reference (in two volumes) "Aces High" by Christopher Shores and Clive Williams does not have a photo of Doe. While his authobiography, "Bob Doe, Fighter Pilot", Spellmount, London, 1991, shows in his childhood and prior to his injury, but nothing post! Yours, G/.
