Its mistakes and conjectures are many: it spends insufficient time on basic logistic issues and accepts unconfirmed assertions as facts. Politically motivated reports such as this one should not be confused for scholarly accounts. The Senate report may have value for historians exploring domestic American politics, but it has no place in serious discussions of the war in Afghanistan.
