Most of the naval history I have read has been in books, both popular and academic, supplemented by magazines such as Warship International and the USNI's Naval History. I do not usually think of corporate websites as a source, but the articles posted by Odyssey Marine Exploration seem to be of high quality, written by qualified people who provide footnotes and bibliographies. I know very little about the HMS Victory which foundered in 1744, or the Royal Navy in the Georgian era, but the paper appears to be the only monograph on this ship. The information on naval ordnance of that period, and on the bullion traffic between Portugal and England, is fascinating. The photography is exceptional in all these papers. http://shipwreck.net/featuresarchpapers.php -- Jonathan Beard jbeard@panix.com ----- For subscription help, go to: http://www.h-net.org/lists/help/ To change your subscription settings, go to http://h-net.msu.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=h-war -----
