I've had good luck with Georg Büchner, DANTON'S DEATH. Cheers, Susan Rosa s-rosa2@neiu.edu -----Original Message----- Deborah Bauer UCF, Florida DeborahLBauer@aol.com Greetings... I am hoping I might query the expertise of those who have taught Western Civilization II in the past and have used plays as any of the main course readings. I am particularly interested in suggestions of plays that worked well -- i.e., students seemed to be able to handle the content well and perhaps had positive feedback for the source after using it in class -- in the context of 17th & 18th centuries social/political issues (Scientific Revolution, absolutism, Enlightenment, French Revolution, etc.). Topic and nation of origin are not necessarily important. However, thus far my list of potential plays is limited to works by Ben Johnson and Moliere, and I was hoping to change things up in the coming semester. I very much appreciate any and all suggestions (even of those who have used plays that didn't work particularly well in the past). Sincerest Regards, ~Deborah Bauer UCF, Florida DeborahLBauer@aol.com
