The 4th Annual Hawaii International Conference on Social Sciences will be held from June 13 (Monday) to June 16 (Thursday), 2005 at the Waikiki Beach Marriott <http://www.waikikibeachmarriott.com> in Honolulu, Hawaii. Honolulu is located on the island of Oahu. "Oahu" is a Hawaiian word usually translated as "the gathering place". The 2005 Hawaii International Conference on Social Sciences will be the gathering place for academicians and professionals from social sciences related fields from all over the world. The 2004 conference was a great success, attended by more than 450 participants representing more than 35 countries. A major focus of this conference is on new urbanism, preservation, planning, energy, and university-community partnerships. The featured speaker for the Conference will be Andres Duany who many consider one the world's most influential planners and leader of the new urbanist movement. Andres will present the keynote lecture and then give a more intimate afternoon workshop. The main goal of the 2005 Hawaii International Conference on Social Sciences is to provide an opportunity for academicians and professionals from various social sciences related fields from all over the world to come together and learn from each other. An additional goal of the conference is to provide a place for academicians and professionals with cross-disciplinary interests related to social sciences to meet and interact with members inside and outside their own particular disciplines. This conference is co-sponsored by the University of Louisville, Center for Sustainable Urban Neighborhoods which is directed by Professor John Gilderbloom. Professors, graduate students and professionals are invited to attend. This conference follows the Congress of New Urbanism Conference in Pasadena, California from June 9 to 13. . .
