The Protest Issues and Actions section of the Popular Culture Association (PCA) seeks proposals for its annual paper sessions at the 2005 PCA Conference in San Diego, CA March 23-26, 2005. Any disciplinary perspective may be used to examine dissent, past or present, in a regional, national, or international setting. Using a broad interpretation of dissent, papers may focus on works by specific artists or writers, the history of a particular protest action or movement, as well as the rhetoric, politics, impact and sociology of specific protest movements. Past topics have included environmental, antiwar, labor, Afro-American American-Indian, anti-Cuban, animal, women's, and gay rights protests, and the use of marches, symbols, dance, theater, ritual, and music in protest. Email 100-200 word abstracts to the Chair, Lotte Larsen (e-mail address given below), by the Deadline of Nov. 1, 2004. Lotte Larsen Email: larsenl@wou.edu
