Following on from a very successful meeting in Barcelona last month, the next biennial conference of the International Planning History Society (IPHS) will be held in New Delhi, India in mid-December 2006. This will be the first time the IPHS has met in a developing country. It sets the scene for some exciting cross-cultural exchanges and will present the opportunity for many prospective delegates to visit the Indian sub-continent for the first time. An inclusive conference theme welcoming of diverse contributions will be set, with a likely focus on local identity in the face of the global transfer of planning ideas. Information will appear in due course on the IPHS website at http://www.planninghistory.org and a dedicated conference website. Expressions of interest and preliminary enquiries can be made to the conference convenor: Professor Binayak Rath, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, e-mail: brath@iitk.ac.in Rob Freestone President, International Planning History Society
