Call for Papers SPECIAL ISSUE – JANUARY 2014 From past to present: The Turks in Greece With the 100th anniversary of the Balkan Wars, the region has come to the forefront of academic enquiry once again. Within this context, various academic meetings were held both in the Balkan countries and in Turkey, as a result of a great deal of studies, which have been published during the last two years. Mostly discussed issues have been the socio-political and economic circumstances of the region (both preceding and following the Balkan Wars) and the relationships between the Balkan states and Turkey. However, the amount of scholarship focusing on the Turkish population of the Greek territories has been relatively limited. In order to address this deficiency, the January 2014 issue of History Studies has been dedicated to the Turkish population of Greece, as part of the 100th anniversary of Balkan Wars. This special issue entitled “From past to present: Turks in Greece” will be guest-edited by Dr. Sebahattin Abdurrahman, Dr. Serkan Yazıcı and Dr. Şevket Hylton Akyıldız. Within this context, potential contributions from fellow scholars in the fields of History, Literature, Geography, Sociology, Political Sciences, Law and International Relations in English or Turkish are invited. This special issue will be later published in English as a book, with the support of the Association of Western Thrace Turks in the UK according to the publication guidelines of History Studies.
