You are invited to attend the opening of Belgo-Turkish exhibition of
Masters of Maps: Piri Reis and Mercator, which will be held in Mithat
Çoruh Amphi at 3 pm in 18th October. The exhibition has been staged
in the context of a visit by HRC Prince Philippe and HRC Princess
Mathilde will preside.
MASTERS OF MAPS : PIRI REIS AND MERCATOR
This symposium and exhibition
on the giants of 16th-century cartography coincides with the Belgian
economic
mission under the auspices of HRH Prince Philippe that will visit
Turkey from 15 to 20 October
2012. The symposium wants to celebrate
the 500th birthday of the cartographer Gerard Mercator, who was born
in
Rupelmonde, Belgium. This academic forum
also wishes to be an introduction to the Unesco Piri Reis year (2013)
and its
activities which will start in a few months.
