Dear all, Is there anybody currently in Syria who would possibly know about the temporary closing of Damascus' Zahiriyyah library? My latest information dates back from the past summer, when the library was closed for renovation. A friend who asked about re-opening was told that it is scheduled for 'the beginning of next year'. I am wondering if that is still the schedule? Or even, if there is someone in Damascus who would be able to briefly stop by and ask them, as my friend did? I'm worried that things might have gotten delayed, and opening won't happen before some time in the spring. Since my travel plans somewhat hinge on having access to their materials, I'd greatly appreciate any effort to find out. I'd be more than happy to return any kind of favor by providing information or assistance with anything here at Harvard libraries or early next year in Beirut, if that helps. Please feel free to contact me off-list at ogle@fas.harvard.edu. Apologies for cross-posting. Thank you very much in advance, Best, Vanessa Ogle ----- End forwarded message -----
