The environment is undergoing a slow yet steady degradation due to the never ending quest of human beings towards their own development and modernization. Considering the same, Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi is organizing a seminar on TOURISM, HOSPITALITY & ENVIRONEMNT: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES on January 21st and 22nd, 2009 to discuss the impact of our industry on the environment. The seminar shall provide a platform to deliberate on the various issues that we face in our efforts to undo the damage already done & will help in discussing some effective measures to check & minimize the negative impact of our Industry on the Environment. Therefore original articles, research papers, case studies that highlight the impact on Environment in different aspects from academicians, practitioners and policy makers are invited to present paper in the Seminar. Contributors interested in writing papers on the subject are requested to submit original manuscripts relating to focused areas as given above. Selected contributions shall be published in the annual Hospitality Management Journal, Indian Journal of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Research ( ISSN 0975-4954) , contributions to which are made by Academician, Hotel Managers and Practitioners and Tourism and Travel experts. Special Issue of this Journal will focus on Tourism, Hospitality and Environment- Issues and Challenges shall be widely circulated to all concerned with the deliberated subject. About our Institution we are a young and progressive Hotel Management College in the country ranked amongst the best 20 Travel and Hotel Management Colleges in the Country by India Today Aspire April 2007, and College of Excellence by Competition Success Review 2008. It has created a niche for itself as a source of competent managerial and technical manpower for the hospitality industry. BCIHMCT, New Delhi is the first & only Hotel Management Institute established under Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi awarding a Four-Year Degree in Hotel Management & Catering Technology and is approved by AICTE. The Institute is run under the aegis of noted philanthropic Society, Shri Banarsidas Chandiwala Sewa Smarak Trust Society, which counts education, health and sports among its primary functions. The college has been conducting various research programmes over the past years involving the Hospitality Industry studying about the needs of the guests, problems in performance and empowerment practices to improve the quality of service. Papers were presented in National & International conferences accordingly. Our Research programme is casting new light on the Industry Operating Practices. The Institute apart from imparting academic inputs, also organizes various programmes to inculcate innovative and competitive spirits amongst the students by organizing intercollege competitions Nationally and Globally through its Annual Hospitality Ensemble and Personality Development through organizing Symposium, Seminar and Debate Programmes and the like throughout the year. And above all active industry and institute interaction during its various events organized and its much demanded Campus Recruitment by best hotels in the country who go all ahead selecting the professionally empowered manpower for their existing and new properties world wide.
