Sent: 23 July 2009 21:46 Subject: Fulbright Opportunities in Political Science Fulbright Scholar Program for US Faculty and Professionals for 2010-2011 is open The Fulbright Scholar Program offers 115 grants in lecturing, research or combined lecturing/research awards in political science, including 11 Fulbright Distinguished Chairs, the Africa Regional Research Program, and the Middle East and North Africa Regional Research program. Even better, faculty and professionals in political science also can apply for one of the 144 “All Discipline” awards open to all fields. What does Fulbright offer in political science? Here are a few of the awards for 2010-2011: Southern and Western Europe: Award #0225 – Public Policy, International Relations and Law in Bulgaria; Award #0396 – Social Sciences and Humanities in Turkey; Award #0373 – American Studies (U.S. government, politics, foreign policy, national security studies) in the Slovak Republic. Western Hemisphere: In addition to the Canada-Mexico Joint Award in North American Studies (#0504), there are awards in Canada (#0567, #0568), Venezuela (#0563, #0564), Brazil (#0514), Chile (#0524), Argentina (#0506) and Panama (#0553). Northern and Eastern Europe: There are political science awards in Kosovo, Poland, and Slovenia. The field is included in the Social Sciences awards in Bosnia, Latvia, Croatia, and Russia. It features prominently in the American Studies awards (e.g. Serbia) and in the All Discipline awards (e.g. Georgia, Montenegro and Moldova). Middle East and Northern Africa: In addition to the Middle East/North Africa Regional Research Program (#0417), there are postdoctoral research awards in Egypt (#0423) and Israel (#0441). Sub-Saharan Africa: Opportunities include Award #0061 and #0065 in Ethiopia, three awards in Botswana (#0046, #0048, #0050) and Award #0103 in South Africa. Distinguished Chairs: Award #0030 – Fulbright-University of Warsaw Distinguished Chair in East European/Eurasian Studies in Poland; Award #0036 – Fulbright-Uppsala University Chair in American Studies in Sweden; Award #0015 – Danish Distinguished Chair in Human Rights and International Studies in Denmark. The application deadline is August 3, 2009. U.S. citizenship is required.
