* 2010 Group Project Abroad (GPA)*

The annual 8-week Fulbright-Hays Intensive Summer Advanced Yorùbá Group
Project Abroad (GPA) is planned for Nigeria in 2010, pending the release of
funding by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). The program, which will
run from June 15 to August 9, 2010 at the campus of O%báfé%mi Awóló%wò%
University, will include:
*5-6 hours of intensive daily Yorùbá language instruction and interaction
*Cultural activities
*Excursions to historical and cultural sites on weekends
*Home-stay with a Yorùbá host family for 8 consecutive weeks
* 6-credit transfer by Host University in Nigeria to participants’
universities in the US
*Eligibility and Requirements*
*U.S. citizen or permanent resident
* 3 or 4 semesters of Yorùbá language study at the college level
*Junior/senior/graduate student or faculty in an institution of higher
education
* *
*Financial Aid*
The Fulbright-Hays GPA covers the costs of roundtrip airfare (US-Nigeria),
local transportation and maintenance allowance in Nigeria, and program
related educational materials.
*The program fee*
Each participating student is expected to pay a program fee of $950 to the
Center for African Studies, University of Florida.
