H-State subscribers: in launching H-Policy one intention was to merge/incorporate H-State into H-Policy (as happens when one journal/magazine is incorporated by another). H-State editorially has been out of commission for several years now and we would like to provide a useful forum for its members. I would like to make this automatic for H-State subscribers, unless there are objections. Matthew Gilmore H-Net Vice President, Networks H-Net: Humanities & Social Sciences Online vp-net@mail.h-net.msu.edu <http://www.h-net.org> ANNOUNCING: H-Policy: H-Net Network on Policy History http://www.h-net.org/~policy/ Member of: H-Net: Humanities and Social Sciences Online http://www.h-net.org Following the successful launches of H-Memory, H-Southern-Lit, H-Human-Rights, and H-FedHist H-Net proudly announces its newest addition to its family of over over 180 discussion networks -- H-Policy. H-Policy is a moderated interdisciplinary forum dedicated to the study, discussion, and scholarly exchange of people interested in Policy History broadly conceived to include all areas of the world. Policy History, as we teach and practice it, examines the origins, development, implementation, and long-term consequences of the policies of governments and private organizations, both formal and informal. Because it examines the social and cultural context of policy making and the consequences of policies, Policy History integrates scholarship in political and institutional history with cutting edge work in social, cultural and economic history. As such it offers an antidote to the balkanization of the discipline of history today. Its relevance to policy making also offers opportunities to build bridges between history and the policy sciences. The list connects and provides a forum for academics, archivists, students, teachers, public historians, policymakers, and researchers interested in the history of policy. H-Policy will cooperate with the Journal of Policy History, the Institute for Political History, and the Journal of Policy History conference. Check out the resources list at: http://www.h-net.org/~policy/resources.html Suggestions for additions are welcome--please email the editors. The goals of H-Net lists are to enable scholars to easily communicate Current research and teaching interests; to discuss new approaches, methods and tools of analysis; to share information on online resources; and to test new ideas and share comments on the literature in their fields, and publish quality reviews in many fields and support acadee through publication of the JobGuide. All network messages are permanently archived and searchable. Like all H-Net lists, H-Policy is moderated to edit out material that, in the editors' opinion, is not germane to the list, involves technical matters (such as subscription management requests), is inflammatory, or violates the evolving, yet common, standards of Internet etiquette. H-Net's procedure for resolving disputes over list editorial practices is Article II, Section 2.20 of our bylaws, located at: http://www.h-net.org/about/by-laws.php Logs and more information can also be located at: http://www.h-net.org/~policy Lead Editor / chief contact: ---------------------------- David Haus drhaus@bgnet.bgsu.edu Sponsoring Organization: ------------------------ Bowling Green State University Additional editors: ------------------- Doug Forsyth, dougfor@bgnet.bgsu.edu, Bowling Green State University Advisory Board members: ----------------------- Name..........
