I am sharing the following request that has come from Peter Swanson: My name is Peter Swanson and I am working on a documentary that will focus international attention on the art of stained glass. For the last 3 years I have been documenting the work of Rowan LeCompte as he completes his last window for Washington National Cathedral. As you may know, Rowan created his first window for this cathedral at the age of 16. Now at 84, he is struggling to complete this monumental project, but it has been a glorious struggle. The film captures this effort and more. It celebrates the creative spirit in all of us and rekindles in viewers an appreciation for the magic of light and glass. It is my intention to launch this film at a major international film festival like Sundance or Toronto. In addition we are sure to get domestic and international television exposure. The successful launch of this film, however, depends on being able to raise the funds necessary to complete the film. Therefore, I am putting out this appeal to the stained glass community for help in finding these funds. I am looking for connections to celebrities, or philanthropists who have a passion for stained glass and may have the resources to help with the completion funds for the film. I am also seeking connections at foundations or institutions that have an interest in this arena. As someone who works in this medium, it occurred to me that you my have met or worked with some of these people. If so I ask your help in connecting me to them. The film is not just about Rowan and his work, but also about the incredible world of stained glass. It will hold up this wonderful light to an international audience, benefiting all who work with it. Your help is greatly appreciated.
