I was wondering if a Twitter hashtag had already been established for the upcoming SHEAR Conference. It doesn't look like there's any traffic on the very logical #SHEAR2011 so that would probably be a good option if no others are already in use. Hopefully we can achieve a critical mass of Twitter users both at the conference and following along from home. For anyone wondering what use Twitter might be at a conference this blog post from Kelli Marshall at the University of Toledo covers the topic nicely and includes some great etiquette guidelines for fostering a positive and constructive Twitter backchannel. http://blog.commarts.wisc.edu/2010/06/18/live-tweeting-and-the-academic-conf erence/ If you are new to Twitter, Derek Bruff from Vanderbilt University offers a five minute video explaining the basics of Twitter and how it can be used at an academic conference. http://screencast.com/t/Sf1wAW8ta Adam Costanzo ****************** Ph.D. Candidate History Department University of California, Davis
