I know it is last minute, but I am hoping to put together a panel for the 2010 SHEAR conference discussing the use of gender within reform or political movements. My current paper entitled, “Ain’t I a Man: Nineteenth Century Masculinity and the Women’s Rights Movement” will examine the criticisms and support for the Women’s Rights Movement as defined by conflicting masculine ideals. Currently, I am comparing William Lloyd Garrison’s, *The Liberator* and James Gordon Bennett’s, *New York Herald*. Garrison and Bennett, through their papers, supported and criticized women’s rights by attacking the other’s masculinity, though I plan to expand my evidence to other papers and sources. Please contact me off list at jbcrider@temple.edu if you are interested. Also any one interested in volunteering for chair/commentator duties would be greatly appreciated. jon crider PhD Student Temple University
