Hello Thomas, although it's not only for journal articles, I would recommend you: 1. concerning Marxism under Lenin: Neil Harding: Leninism; Chapters in: Stephen Cohen: Bukharin and the Bolshevik Revolution; 2. concerning Marxism und Stalin: chapters in: Erik van Ree: The Political Thought of Joseph Stalin. 2002, David Priestland. Stalin as a Bolshevik Romantic. In S. Davies/ J. Harris (Ed.), Stalin. A New History. Cambrdige, 2005 (Here you may as well find the contribution by van Ree useful: Stalin as Marxist: the western roots... To be sure, most writing in the context of this subject is dealing with something like "Lenin as Marxist" or "Stalin as Marxist" which is not at all the same as "Marxism under..." If you take this formulation literally in its broad sense, it would may be exceed an honours thesis. But in that case you may find something in the classical work by Robert V. Daniels: The Conscience of the Revolution, apart from the work by Cohen on Bukharin, quoted above. With best wishes Benno Ennker Dr. Benno Ennker Lehrbeauftragter für Kultur- und Sozialgeschichte Russlands Universität St. Gallen (CH)
