Call for Proposals: New Voices in Rural Geography Dear Colleagues: The Rural Geography Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers seeks papers from undergraduate and graduate students, junior faculty, and researchers new to topics in the field of rural geography to include in one or more New Voices in Rural Geography paper sessions for the 2010 meeting in Washington, DC. New Voices in Rural Geography paper sessions offer the opportunity for students, junior faculty, and those new to research topics in rural geography to present their work and receive feedback from knowledgeable people in the field. Students who contribute to the New Voices in Rural Geography paper sessions are also eligible to participate in the Rural Geography Specialty Group's student paper competition. As a member of the Rural Geography Specialty Group, please consider forwarding this CFP to others who may be interested in getting involved. To take part in the New Voices in Rural Geography paper sessions, participants should first register for the AAG conference and submit their abstract at www.aag.org and take note of their PIN number. They then should send an e-mail to Dawn M. Drake (ddrake2@utk.edu <mailto:ddrake2@utk.edu> ). These emails should contain the presenter's PIN number, whether he/she is a student, junior faculty, or new researcher to rural topics, paper title, and abstract. The deadline is midnight, Sunday, October 25. The Rural Geography Specialty Group promotes research and education related to contemporary rural landscapes, societies, and economies in the developed world. Specialty group members conduct research across an array of topics, including agriculture; land use; environmental governance; population; rural health, crime, and poverty; food systems; indigenous peoples; and rural restructuring processes. Thank you for your assistance in advertising this call for papers for the New Voices in Rural Geography sessions at the 2010 meeting of the Association of American Geographers. Sincerely, Dawn M.
