I am pleased to report that the Freehold Borough Historic Preservation Commission asked the developer to come back with a plan that preserves and rehabs the historic 1830 section of the Richmond House and to locate new construction behind it. The Freehold Historic Preservation Commission will meet on Monday, Nov. 9 at 6:30 pm at Borough Hall on West Main Street to review the new plans. The commission seems to understand that they can demand more and don't have to accept whatever is offered by developers. It will be interesting to see if the new plan successfully integrates the old with the new. Please come out if you can make it - the commissioners need all the encouragement they can get and we need to make it clear that the only obstacle to preserving Richmond House is a lack of imagination. http://newstranscript.gmnews.com/news/2009/1104/front_page/007.html Contact Wayne Mason at waynejmason@verizon.net for more information.
