You are invited to attend the book launch and reception for "Steel Pier, Atlantic City: Showplace of the Nation," by Steve Liebowitz. "Steel Pier, Atlantic City" chronicles the rise of one of America's most remarkable entertainment venues - "A Vacation In Itself," as the slogan went - and how it mirrored American society from 1898-1978. For three-quarters of the last century, long before theme parks were imagined, there was nothing like it. Meet author Steve Liebowitz, Atlantic City historian Alan "Boo" Pergament, and Atlantic City Historical Museum President Bob Ruffolo. The author and other speakers will briefly discuss the heyday of the legendary Steel Pier; images from the book will be on display; the author will be signing books for sale. This free event is open to the public.
