The community is invited to attend programs offered by the College of Saint Elizabeth during the 20th annual College of Saint Elizabeth Week of Holocaust Remembrance in the week of November 9th, 2009. On Monday evening, Nov. 9th (7:30- 9:15 p.m.), New Jersey residents George Greene (Caldwell, NJ), who was a child in Vienna, Austria during Kristallnacht, and Fred Heyman (Morristown, NJ), who was a child in Berlin, Germany at that time, will share their Kristallnacht experiences on this 71st anniversary of that day/night. On Wednesday evening, Nov. 11th (7:3 - 9:15 p.m.), there will be an Interfaith Dialogue Program with three outstanding theologians (Rabbi Irving "Yitz" Greenberg, Fr. John Pawlikowski, and Dr. Henry "Hank" Knight) who will speak about post-Holocaust theology in a dialogue "Challenges and Opportunities in Interfaith Dialogue Today". These programs are free and open to the public; dessert receptions following the Monday & Wednesday evening programs. There also will be an art exhibit of Jersey City artist Aileeen Bassis' Holocaust Books, and opportunities to sit in on classes taught by College of Saint Elizabeth faculty that Week. For specific details and directions to campus, please go to the website: www.cse.edu/holocaustcenter <http://www.cse.edu/holocaustcenter> In its 1994 law mandating education about the Holocaust and genocide in NJ schools, the Legislature stated that New Jersey is proud of it diversity, but upset when acts of intolerance and racism take place here; they indicated that education about the Holocaust and other genocides was needed. It would be our honor to have members of the NJ history community come out to join us for these special programs.
