My experience since Oct 2001 through last year is that the majority of single parents I encountered in SRP were men. That is likely because most of the Army (and Army National Guard) is male, oh, about 85% plus. There likely are numerically more men with the problem. I don't know if it is the same by percentage of each. But, this is definitely not about being female. In the past, women were the custodians of children. But in the age of joint custody and willingness in most states to grant custody to fathers, this is not really a female issue. It is just when it becomes public that the misogynists seize the issue. I would be interested in seeing the numbers. BTW, some of these parents have had a change of circumstance since they enlisted. That is what hardship reassignments and discharges should address. Perhaps this is really about leadership. Bridget Wilson Still haven't registered to review books? http://www.h-net.org/~minerva/review.html
