Sent: 17 November 2009 22:08 Dear Matthew, I used my magical disk to try and find your Khumarawayh: the Maktaba-part of the Mawsuu'a Shi'riiya. It contains the MustaTraf by Ibshiihii, but no Khumarawayh pops up from this work. None of my three (!) editions of the MutaTraf contains an adequate index. There is one though in the Amaalii by al-Shajarii, only mentioned in an isnaad: a Zakariyaa bn Khumarawayh, his father a Saffaar or worker in brass. Of no avail to you. My Amaalii edition has an index but it does not list this one. Another Khumarawayh can be found in the Thamaraat al-Awraaq fii al-MuHaaDaraat by al-Hamawii. He is only once mentioned in the context of an adoption by AHmad bn Tuuluun. No luck there either, I'm afraid. Are you certain about the spelling of the name in Arabic. I ran a search for a Humarawayh and a Jumarawayh, but no results. Best, Dr. Gert Borg University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands
