Sent: 05 November 2009 20:45 Dear colleagues, I was wondering if any studies have been published on the effect of the Mongol sack of Baghdad upon intellectual culture in other parts of the Islamic world. I'd be interested in any studies on, for example, the migration of Baghdad-based ulama to other cities, the veracity of reports about the destruction of libraries in the wake of the Mongol conquest, or on the effect that the fear of impending invasion or calamity had upon knowledge-preservation, etc. Any assistance would be most appreciated. Best wishes, Elias Muhanna -- Elias I. Muhanna Arabic & Islamic Studies Harvard University 6 Divinity Ave. Cambridge MA, 02138 emuhanna@fas.harvard.edu
