Sent: 26 October 2009 21:43 Greetings It seems that Ali b. Nasir was a contemporary of al-Sharif al-Radi the compilator of the Nahj, and is considered to be the author of the earliest sharh of Nahj al-Balagha (see: I'jaz Husayn, Kashf al-Hujub, p. 53; quoted by al-Amini, al-Ghadir, vol. 4, p. 186; and Agha Buzurg, Dhari'a, vol 2, p. 240). Agha Buzurg believed that I'jaz Husayn al-Hindi (d. 1286 AH) owned a manuscript of this Sharh (Agha Buzurg, al-Nabisn fi al-Qarn al-Khamis, p. 132). However, a meticulous research undertaken in Majallat Turathuna (n. 35, p. 156) shows that I'jaz Husayn was mistaken and that Ali b. Nasir lived un the 7th century AH. I hope this helps Avraham Hakim University of Tel-Aviv
