For Immediate Release: AUTOMOTIVE AUTHORS BOOK FAIR The fourth annual gathering of selected automotive authors will take place at the Detroit Public Library's Skillman Branch on Saturday, November 21, 2009. From around the nation and Canada, 23 authors of automotive books will be in attendance in the Rose Skillman Hall of the Skillman Branch, the home of National Automotive History Collection (NAHC), to talk with the public and sell and sign books. The Wayne State University Press, which has an extensive list of automotive history books, will have its own display and representatives in attendance. John Gibson, the Detroit Public Library's Interim Coordinator for Special Collections recently said, "Now in its fourth year, the Automotive Authors Book Fair has proven to be an event that excites both the automotive writers and their readers. Book creation is mostly done in isolation so the Book Fair gives the authors a chance to interact with their readers and, importantly, a chance to meet with each other. Based on the wide acceptance of Automotive Authors Book Fair and its history of attendance growth, we expect the 2009 event to top all previous records." Patrice Merritt, Executive Director of the Detroit Public Library Friends Foundation, said, "The Automotive Authors Book Fair has shown to be a magnet that pulls people who might not otherwise visit the Skillman Branch Library. Once they experience that stunningly restored art deco building and the vast store of material contained in the National Automotive History Collection, they become believers in the place and its mission. We fully expect this year's Book Fair to build upon previous years' excellent results." Authors John Clor, The Mustang Dynasty; John Heitman, The Automobile and American Life; and Anthony Yanik, Maxwell Motor and the Making of the Chrysler Corporation will make in-depth presentations of their books while the Book Fair is in session. The 2009 Automotive Authors Book Fair will take place in the Skillman Library, at 121 Gratiot Avenue, between 2:00 and 5:00 PM on November 21.
