In celebration of American Archives Month, the Friends of the Western Maryland Room invite you to attend Protect Your Image: Caring for Photographs presented by Donna M. Wells at Washington County Free Library on Sunday, October 11, from 2-4 p.m. Ms. Wells is a photo historian with a special interest and expertise in local African-American history. Her previous positions include: Prints and Photographs Librarian at Howard University's Moorland-Spingarn Research Center, assistant archivist for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, archivist for Gallaudet University, and photo librarian at the Library of Congress. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs for an informal show and tell. Discussion about photographic processes, dating photographs, and preservation issues will reinforce the information presented in the workshop. Seating is limited, so please call 301-739-3250, ext. 123 or 136 to register. If you have questions, contact Elizabeth Howe, C.A., at ext. 158.
