Dear H-Net, Last month, I published *The 2011 Libyan Uprisings and the Struggle for the Post-Qadhafi Future *with Palgrave Macmillan. It is an edited volume with many of the world's foremost authorities on Libya as contributors. The volume seeks to unlock the core dynamics at play in today's Libya by looking at the anti-Qadhafi uprisings thematically. It is the first book to take this approach. The book concludes that events in Libya were not *a* revolution but a *series* of disconnected and ill-coordinated uprisings arising out of the specific social, economic, tribal, religious, and ethnic forces at play in the country. As such, it analyses the role of Islamists, ethnic minorities, foreign powers, economy/oil, and tribalism seeking to uncover how each of these 'dynamics' led into the uprisings and were then in turn transformed by them and how they now play out in the struggle for post-Qadhafi Libya. The Table of Contents and Contributors is: Introduction: The Center and the Periphery *by Jason Pack * Chapter 1: Civil Activism and the Roots of the 2011 Uprisings by *George Chapter 2: Dynamics of Continuity and Change by* Youssef Mohammed Sawani * Chapter 3: The Post-Qadhafi Economy by *Ronald Bruce St John * Chapter 4: The Role of Outside Actors by *Ambassador Richard Northern and Jason Pack * Chapter 5: The Rise of Tribal Politics by *Wolfram Lacher* Chapter 6: The South by *Henry Smith * Chapter 7: Islamists by *Noman Benotman, Jason Pack, and James Brandon* You may see the Book Launch poster and various reviews at http://www.libya-analysis.com/media/Book-Launch-Poster.pdf To watch the Video of THE STRUGGLE FOR THE POST-QADHAFI FUTURE: ISLAMISTS, MILITIAS, AND FOREIGN POWERS the book launch talk featuring Jason Pack, Noman Benotman, Ambassador Richard Northern, and Professor Sir Christopher Bayly launching the 2011 Libyan Uprisings and the Struggle for the Post-Qadhafi Future visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5RIBHGIkZE To Buy the Book: You can order your copy from Palgrave at http://www.palgrave.com/products/title.aspx?pid=657278 Best Regards, Jason Pack Jason@Libya-Analysis.com --
